Limiting Screen Time
Limiting your children's screen time may be tough - but the effects of too much screen time can be detrimental.
Here are some tips to help limit screen time and encourage more physical or creative activity for your kids:
- Set the Example - Children usually model the behaviors of their parents. If they see you putting down the remote and picking up a book or going outside, they will likely follow.
- Be the Parent - Decide the rules of screen time and stick with them. Explain why you've made that decision and be open to a conversation.
- Set Limited Screen Times - It's easier for children to understand and follow a structured schedule. For example, set screen time for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening.
- Encourage Other Activities - Make sure there are plenty of other things for your children to do - read books, play games, make art, play sports, etc.
- Be Involved in Their Lives - Spend time with your children doing offline activities that nourish your relationship.
